Songcatcher, a new 18 inch Ojo de Dios

I finished up this ojo late in the evening Thursday, Sept. 17th, after struggling the whole time I was weaving it as to what its name would be. Clearly its theme was one of inspiration, represented by the sharp wings of outward reaching pale violet....but inspiration rooted in nature and having ones feet grounded, as represented by the solid earth colored triangle that the pale violet branches out from. I often watch DVD's as I work, and this was no exception. in Fact, I re-watched, from my collection, the whole three volume set of Lord of the Rings as I slowly created this ojo, and, at the end, with near exact timing, finished up the movie *Songcatcher*, a movie about the music of the North Carolina Mountains and those that recorded such music in the early 1900's. Just as the movie finished up, and I put in the last of the border's embroidery stitches, I realized that *Songcatcher* was also the name of the Ojo!
I posted a higher rez version of this photo HERE that much more clearly shows such details as the silver colored metallic yarn highlights.

using facebook more and more

I've now, as you can see from my *facebook badge* I'm promoting my work more and more via facebook, and have now created a separate page just for the Ojos de Dios. Also, I'm experimenting with the idea of giving ojo weaving lessons via Skype. email me, jay@ojos-de-dios.com if interested!
I'm very happy with my latest ojo, pictured here, Which I'm calling Diamond Sky. Diamond Sky not only uses a lot of very bright colors, but has added highlights from silver colored metallic yarns. You can see it via facebook HERE, or click on the above pic to see it in higher resolution, which shows the metallic highlights better than the above small pic shows them.
I hope to be making many more, as with this ojo, using wool yarns and metallic highlights. This is at least partly inspired by the wonderful work of Charlene Marsh
Peace and Love always!

Ojos de Dios in Russia!
My webmaster son Abel, looking at my webstats (something I haven't done in months) discovered that I've been getting quite a few hits from Russia, and that there are links to my website from Russia. So, I took a look at the links Abel sent me, and traced things back to this ONE website....my Russian equivilant....a young woman who not only makes and sells Ojos de Dios, but holds workshops teaching quite a few others to make them as well. Through her students, apparently, my work is popular, at least with her students. This young woman, Anna Fenina, had been trying to email me, but it turned out that her email service won't send emails to the USA. Then, after I left her a message on her website, she opened a Gmail account, and now we've not only emailed, but chatted via our mutual FaceBook pages. You can visit her webpage HERE
